Kintradwell can produce some nice surprises, but you will need the right conditions to expose the rocks and shale on the foreshore.

Kintradwell is not recommended for families because you will have to cross a railway line along a long walk.

Kintradwell is difficult to access with a long walk. Their is poor access to the beach.

All of the fossils are found in the rocks and shale exposed on the Foreshore At Kindtradwell.

Other Jurassic Coastal sites in Scotland

There are a range of Jurassic Coastal sites in Scotland, most near Brora have been caused by the Helmsdale Fault. On the Isle of Skye, there are a number of coastal exposures including Bearreriag Bay, Glasnakille, Elgol, Faoilean. Other locations near to Kintradwell that are featured on UK Fossils are, Helmsdale, Crakaig, Golspie, Portgower, Lothbeg, Brora River, Balintore, Eathie and Brora Foreshore.

Microscopes

Microfossils are much easier to collect because they are so small that the vast majority of collections only concentrate on large finds. These small finds can simply be found by taking small samples of sands, crags, clays and soft rocks and examining them under a microscope.
